Testimonials

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to Jared, Evan, and Jodi Wagner for the incredible support they provided to my girlfriend during her time at Oro House Recovery. Our relationship was in a tough spot, and I felt helpless as she struggled with her challenges. When we reached out to Oro House, they immediately offered her the comfort and care she needed to begin her journey to recovery. The staff was compassionate and understanding, guiding her through the detox process and ensuring she felt safe every step of the way. She committed to a 30-day program, and I can honestly say it has changed her life—and ours—for the better. Now, my girlfriend is home, living a life filled with purpose and hope. I can't thank Oro House Recovery enough for helping us rebuild our relationship and giving me my girlfriend back. Their dedication and support made all the difference, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of help. Thank you, Oro!

I walked into Oro House feeling hopeless and lost, but I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made to check in to this amazing facility. I had hit rock bottom, struggling with substance use and feeling completely isolated from my family and loved ones. I was skeptical about the 12-step program, thinking it wasn't for me, but the moment I stepped through the doors, everything changed. From the very first interaction, the staff was incredibly supportive and made me feel at ease. The admission process was challenging, but the team was so compassionate and understanding, it gave me a sense of relief. They quickly got me into detox at Barrington, where I received not only comfort but also support from fellow clients who reassured me that this transition would be life-changing. The staff went above and beyond. Jodi Wagner was a true angel, ensuring I felt safe and comfortable. Jared and Evan were also instrumental in my journey, always available to talk, day or night. The 24/7 support made a world of difference during those tough moments. After a few days in detox, I began group sessions that allowed me to process my emotions and feelings. Jason, a certified therapist, created a safe space for me to open up in ways I never thought possible. My assigned therapist, Maxine, took the time to get to know me without pushing me too hard. She always checked in on me, which made me feel valued and cared for. Once detox was complete, I was able to go offsite with the staff, who helped me establish a routine filled with healthy activities. I loved that it was dog-friendly, allowing me to have my little companion by my side as I worked on my recovery. They also offered family therapy, and while my family wasn’t ready initially, they started to come around when they saw my commitment to sobriety. David, another facilitator, helped shift my mindset toward the positives of living sober. I’m now 60 days clean, and I can’t express how grateful I am for the support and guidance I received at Oro House. The medication regimen provided by the psychiatrist has been fantastic, and the sense of community is truly special. They cater to all spiritual preferences, taking us to church and AA meetings, and even organizing fun activities like movie nights to show us how to enjoy life sober. The chef deserves a shoutout too! I came in malnourished with dietary restrictions, and the chef accommodated all my needs, helping me regain my health. Oro House has given me a sense of peace and hope that I never thought I would find again. I can't thank them enough for being the starting point of my journey to a fulfilling life. If you’re struggling, I highly recommend seeking help here. You won’t regret it!

In my nine (9) years of attempting to get sober, I have never found a more compassionate, caring, and kind rehab for detox and residential. Clint, Alex B, Alex N, George, Kelly, Tina, and everyone here is amazing. It’s like a family here. It’s also the most ethical, you can feel safe here. It’s nice to come home.

I think this review is a very honest and fair assessment of Oro House and how I got sober there. Oro is a very special place in a lot of ways. It is, maybe, the best of what’s out there for rehab, in my opinion, but it’s no magic bullet, and, like any organization, it has a lot of problems as well. I am 6 months sober right now. I used Oro as much as I possibly could have when I was there; going to all the groups, learning from the staff (they have some of the most exceptional and extraordinary staff- clinical and not! (you know who you are Rex people), filling my tool kit with all the odds and ends from some great instructors, and I left feeling the best and most confident that I ever had from any kind of rehab. This was my first residential rehab and my only time at Oro. Some folks had been there 9 times, not many people I met had been less than twice or a few times. I am grateful to Oro for being that place that helped me finally grasp sobriety in a very real way. I highly doubt I will ever drink again. I am not struggling with alcohol at all anymore. I do not do AA, but I developed my own program that works. And I work on myself constantly. I had been trying for 6 years to get sober prior to Oro, but after Oro I understood that sobriety is all in your mind, all of it. Someone who worked there really helped me understand how that is, and in Clint’s own special way he just helped me change my perception of everything in my life, myself, and the world around me. Hard to explain. Then the switch is flipped and you cope with everyting entirely differently. I understand what happened and what needed to happen to get me there. I think to get sober you have to have a psychic revolution and how this occurred for me I can tell you, but how it will occur for you, I cannot. After that, it’s all up to you. You have to be insanely strong, entirely self-reliant, and you have to be willing to change anything and everything in your life for sobriety. You are truly alone on this one, so be prepared. I think If I were to give advice it would be to only rely on yourself, and go in knowing that’s the only thing you can rely on. Well, that’s for me anyway. Once you leave Oro, Oro disappears along with all the support that entails. And the first thirty days are a huge shock and you almost don’t know what to do with yourself. This is when I would have relapsed if I was going to. No Oro connections, no aftercare, no nothing. It feels like a HUGE NOTHING, like the grand canyon of nothing and no one. The people at Oro don’t actually give a shit about you and you can feel it in your bones. So, from my experience, you take what you got at Oro, every morsel, and you get your shit together right then and there when you feel the intensity of how totally fucked and alone you are, or, you don’t, and you go back for seconds. There is a lot of strength to be had from being fucked over and over again- so you take all that resilience, but this time you actually ADAPT and change from the experience rather than just tolerating it. I think probably a lot of people relapse in those first 30 days because of this thoughtless, absurd, lack of support around the Oro departure. It’s like having a family that just disappears one day. So, there is that. I was also bothered for months and months about the poor-quality therapy I’d received, some inadequate staffing- undertrained staff, how they made me behave in special ways for some of the private pay clients (VERY odd and inappropriate), and some other organizational issues I’m not going to mention. Also, I am Bipolar, and I was incredibly surprised how no one there seemed to understand mental illness very well, but they all seem to be absolutely fascinated by the concept of boundaries. Mostly, Oro worked for me a LOT, but not without a lot of pain and suffering and HARD WORK.
