No Matter What (NMW) Recovery is truly the premier treatment facility for substance use disorder, offering specialized care for chemsex addiction. Their sober living homes are fantastic—well-run, beautifully maintained, and set in a stunning location in the Hollywood Hills. From the moment I arrived, I felt the deep commitment and care from the entire team. Paulo and Tony, the owners, have dedicated their lives to helping people, and their passion for this work is evident in everything they do. They genuinely care about each patient’s journey and go above and beyond to provide the support needed for lasting recovery. From the pre-admissions process to picking me up at LAX to the therapeutic treatment itself, the entire NMW team was 100% invested in my personalized recovery journey. Mell is, without a doubt, the best therapist I have ever had. They helped me work through issues I had never fully faced before. Their insight, compassion, and guidance made a profound impact on my healing process, and I am forever grateful. The entire staff at No Matter What is phenomenal—every person there is truly invested in the well-being of their clients. Thanks to this incredible team, I have remained clean and sober post-discharge, and I cannot express how life-changing my experience here has been. If you are looking for a queer-affirming treatment center that truly cares and provides the support needed for deep, lasting recovery, NMW is it.
No Matter What was definitely one of the best treatment experiences I’ve had, and to have a center be so inclusive of the LGBTQ community is refreshing and much needed in recovery spaces. Groups were wonderful, facilitators were prepared, well versed in their topics and created safe and motivating environments for us to share and process in (Will and Jack get a special shout out for their groups, seriously the best of the best). I cannot thank the entire team ant No Matter What enough. I feel prepared to get back to my life and continue my growth beyond treatment.
From the moment I arrived, No Matter What Recovery made me feel welcomed and at ease. They picked me up at Union Station, checked me into the sober living house, and walked me through the intake process with a smooth and friendly approach. This efficient and supportive start set the tone for the entire experience. My first day was incredible. I had transferred from a larger facility in Las Vegas where I often felt like just a number in a facility of about 300 with individual groups sessions of 30-60 people. In contrast, No Matter What Recovery offered smaller group settings, making me feel truly seen and catered to. I was introduced to traditional groups like CBT, but I also got to experience unique therapies like acupuncture, sound baths, art therapy, and drama therapy—all on day one. What stood out the most was their focus on LGBTQ+ individuals. I didn’t have to worry about meals, transportation, or safety, and I had the freedom to attend outside meetings, daily house gatherings, and live within structure and rules (which I needed) without feeling overly monitored. My therapist, Jay, struck the perfect balance of empathy and tough love, giving me practical tools to navigate the world outside of treatment. The facilitators were knowledgeable and caring, and the variety of groups exceeded my expectations. My case managers were incredibly helpful, assisting with everything from insurance to resume building. The holistic approach at No Matter What Recovery expanded my healing in ways I hadn’t imagined. I tried practices like Reiki and yoga for the first time and found them surprisingly therapeutic. The sober living environment was another key factor. Moving from the isolation of addiction into a communal setting provided me with a supportive "family" where we cooked, attended meetings, and celebrated victories together. Since starting at No Matter What Recovery, my life has transformed. I went from being overwhelmed by the idea of moving from Oklahoma to L.A. to choosing to stay in L.A. post-graduation. I found an amazing job, secured a place to live, and built a foundation for my future—all thanks to the support and confidence I gained there. Plus, the monthly alumni meetings keep me connected to this incredible community. If you’re a queer individual struggling with addiction, No Matter What Recovery is the obvious choice. They address your unique needs in a safe, affirming environment set in the beautiful Hollywood Hills. The atmosphere is inclusive, compassionate, and empowering, making you feel like part of a family. The smaller group sizes make you feel seen, and the extensive variety of offerings rivals what you'd find in larger facilities. No Matter What Recovery truly offers a boutique experience with a powerful impact. I can’t recommend it enough.
If it weren’t for Paulo, Tony, and the staff and facilitators at No Matter What Recovery, I would not have gotten sober 10 1/2 months ago, and would likely not be sober now. My experience at the detox, residential, and outpatient facilities gave me my life back. The staff is caring and professional, and the facility itself is definitely nicer than any of my prior treatment centers. I felt safe a cared for throughout my time there and am profoundly grateful for the tools I was given to live the life I have today.
I initially wanted to continue sober living/php back in my hometown, but decided to stay with No Matter What after graduating their Detox program. And it was a great decision. The care that the staff puts into their clients is wonderful. From the case managers, to the techs, to the therapists, and the group leaders (some familiar faces from the Detox center so it was nice to know someone going in, and nice that I got to spend more time around them) everyone helped start my road to recovery off to a great start. The center is provided with many groups, decent amount of break times, food and beverages, etc. They have a variety of groups involving client engagement which is very helpful by digging deep into trauma, emotion, etc. I learned a lot about myself, about addiction, and they are very proactive in your continued treatment when you graduate. All the clients are asked to be respectful towards one another which makes little to no conflict between clients which is a plus. I adored every staff member, even the ones I didn’t speak to much. That’s how much of an impact everyone gives off as they care about your recovery and want the best for their clientele.
