I am looking for a virtual IOP for an anxious and depressed young person. I called and spoke with what I would call a salesperson to find out about the programs offered. The woman was hard to understand and was clearly reading from a script and did not seem to know anymore about the programs offered than what she could read in front of her. She told me that psychiatry once a week was part of the program. I told her that this young person could meet with the psychiatrist once a week as it was a requirement, but would not be taking any medication. She told me that they have to take medication to be part of the program and receive the services. That is ridiculous. It has been proven that the chemical imbalance theory was wrong and that you see small improvement on them due to the placebo effect. Also medications often cause more problems than they solve, and can come with serious risks. Total turn off. Read Mad in America.

Picking a program such as this, for any child who is struggling, is not an easy one. The communication, collaboration and dedication of the Darien staff are unmatched. I’ve had the pleasure of working with their team both as a clinician and now as a referent. Don’t let them fool you they don’t take health insurance you have to pay out pocket thousands dollars. Wasted time/ days search for help for my child Horrible customer service had make 2 appointments with admission first time did not call me I had call them reschedule for next day and call was 40 minutes late Go somewhere else
