Newport was a great experience for me. The clinical team was one of the best ever, preparing me to be the best I can be. The first 72 hours were amazing because I worked hard for the mindset I now have. My relationship with my family has been amazing because they are my biggest supporters, seeing them understand my growth and understand what I went through,  when I’m triggered and feeling uncomfortable, I go right to them and talk to them, as before I would hold in my anger and not talk about my feelings. They are such great people and I am grateful for them. I have been following what I was preparing for myself for 70 days. So knowing what I’m capable of I have been doing the best that I can. I have been going to php and having the best mindset everyday. Knowing everyday is not perfect for me, I just keep my head up high and be positive about the struggles that arise. Something that I want to share with other clients and families is that you have to be open to working hard for yourself and be able to open up and be honest towards your support team, and focus on yourself. While staying at Newport  everyday was not perfect but keeping your self positive, but most of the days were one of the best experiences I ever had and the healthiest too. Knowing I was very broken I’m the person I can be proud of today. Letting go of all the trauma and anger I had was one of the best things I ever did. But most importantly the work was done by me, having an opened mind and working hard for myself not for anyone else. I’m extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to focus on myself and grow. I was the community leader for my pod and knowing that you can become something that’s worth working hard for and getting through hard things, you can over come any struggles that may come into your life. I wanted to share with kids and families that Newport is a wonderful place, everyone is welcoming and loving, keeping you active and healthy. Thank you for letting me be apart of this wonderful journey where I can help others with my personal experiences.

I am looking for a virtual IOP for an anxious and depressed young person. I called and spoke with what I would call a salesperson to find out about the programs offered. The woman was hard to understand and was clearly reading from a script and did not seem to know anymore about the programs offered than what she could read in front of her. She told me that psychiatry once a week was part of the program. I told her that this young person could meet with the psychiatrist once a week as it was a requirement, but would not be taking any medication. She told me that they have to take medication to be part of the program and receive the services. That is ridiculous. It has been proven that the chemical imbalance theory was wrong and that you see small improvement on them due to the placebo effect. Also medications often cause more problems than they solve, and can come with serious risks. Total turn off. Read Mad in America.

Picking a program such as this, for any child who is struggling, is not an easy one. The communication, collaboration and dedication of the Darien staff are unmatched. I’ve had the pleasure of working with their team both as a clinician and now as a referent. The Darien staff are knowledgeable and happy to answer any and all questions about the treatment process to help ease any concerns a family or child may have.
